Stumpy Harris is an eminent domain and civil trial lawyer with over 40 years of experience. A specialist in legal strategy, negotiations and trial. Stumpy’s strength lies in his ability to guide owners through the eminent domain process and complex litigation.

An AV-rated trial attorney, Stumpy is knowledgeable in the broad spectrum of issues surrounding property rights and eminent domain. He has handled hundreds of eminent domain parcels throughout Florida, ranging in value from a few hundred dollars to more than $60 million.

A Bull Gator, Legacy Director and President of Gator Boosters, Stumpy is widely recognized for his ardent support of the University of Florida. He serves, or has served, in leadership capacities for numerous advisory boards that promote the University and its athletic program. He has created several Endowments to provide for scholarships on a long-term basis. In addition to his support for the University of Florida, Stumpy is also active in several professional and civic organizations.

Raised in Jacksonville, Stumpy earned a degree in mathematics from the University of Florida. He received his J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law, where he graduated third in his class. After law school, Stumpy taught at the University’s Law School before joining the predecessor firm to Holland & Knight in Bartow, Florida. In 1970, Stumpy became a founding partner of Gray, Harris & Robinson, P.A. and significantly contributed to building its statewide practice. In 2003, Stumpy founded Harris Harris Bauerle Sharma, a firm devoted to the field of eminent domain and civil trial law, with his son and three other partners.
